I recently attended the Essence Rock n' Doll event to preview their spring and summer 2017 collection. There are a vast array of products in the SS17 collection. The line includes everything from eye primers, brow products, eye and face palettes, colour correcting items, cool liners, mascaras, blushes and lipsticks. Today I will be sharing a few key items from the launch along with some swatches.
The Glow Must Go On - Bronzing and Highlighting Palette ($9.99)
This palette was created in collaboration with blogger Serena of Beautylab. It includes two earthy eyeshadows, three warm bronzer shades and a highlighter shade to achieve the perfect glow. Included inside is a mirror and mini brush.
Shape and Shadows – Eye Contouring Palette ($9.99)
I like the concept of this palette. You can define your eyes and brows with this palette that was created by blogger Mary of Strikeapose. It contains three eyeshadows, two eyebrow powders and a brow wax. It also comes with a mini angled brush with a spooley on the other end.
All about Eyeshadow Palette - Toffee ($5.99)
There is a new shade option in this palette collection called Toffee. It includes eight complementing shades with various finishes from satin, matte and metallic. The shades are more of a purple/mauve toned than toffee.
Shape your Face Contouring Palette ($6.99)
This easy to use palette allows you to contour, highlight and add some colour to your cheeks for a healthy radiant glow. There are two colour options available. Both have matte bronzers and shimmering blushes plus a highlighter shade. The blush shades are so vibrant and fun. They also have buildable pigments.
Light Up Your Face Luminizer Palette ($6.99)
This palette includes three luminizing silky soft powders to give a subtle radiant glow. One of the highlighter shades has a matte finish which is good for setting your makeup and the other two are more shimmery. The shades of this palette are too light for my complexion and not as shiny as I would prefer.
Colour Correcting Mattifying Powder ($4.49)
This powder contains pink, green and beige colours to even out skin tone and neutralize redness. It also mattifies while absorbing excess oil.
…All I Need Concealer Palette ($6.99)
This palette contains 5 different concealer shades to color correct, reduce dark circles and the appearance of redness.
Beige – covers imperfections, Pink – brightens tired skin, Green – neutralizes redness and Yellow – covers dark circle
Satin Touch Blush ($3.99)
This blush is available in two shades, Satin Love and Satin Coral. Both are equally beautiful and are very pigmented. They also blend like a dream.
Matt Matt Matt Lipstick ($4.49)
A long lasting smooth lipstick with a matte finish and bold colour. It is available in 8 shades, of which 7 are swatched below. The formula is creamy and wears comfortably.

That's all the Spring/Summer 2017 collection in it's in entirety. I have only tried Essence's lip liners, eyebrow pencils and lip oil before and I was really impressed. Their nail polishes are also great. They have some great products with affordable prices. The blushes are my favourite picks from the line. I'm intrigued to try the Rock 'n' Doll Duo Stylist liner, it has a ball shaped tip to create dots but it can also be used to create a wing.
