Benefit Cosmetics BADgal BANG! Volumizing Mascara Review
After having two best-selling mascaras on the market, Benefit Cosmetics has added a new mascara to the lineup but will it live up to its predecessors? The Badgal Bang! is a water-resistant volumizing mascara that was designed to provide 36-hour wear. Not sure who actually wears their mascara for that many hours, definitely not me. The mascara retails for $32 CAD and is also available in a mini size for $17 CAD at Sephora, Shoppers Drug Mart, Ulta Benefitcosmetics.com and other retailers that carry the brand.
The black soft touch finish packaging looks very cool with the studs on the handle of the wand. The cone-shaped applicator is thin and very flexible. It was designed to reach from root-to-tip and corner-to-corner to give a 360 degree reach to upper and lower lashes. The intense black formula contains provitamin B5 to provide thickness and strength. It also contains aero-particles (one of the lightest known materials) used in space technology to give "gravity-defying lift". I love the length that this mascara provides to my lashes. It lengthens with just one coat without having to do much wiggling of the wand. The formula feels lightweight like I have nothing on. When I curl my lashes with a curler prior to application, it holds the curl for much longer. It's best to pick up a little product at a time. With excess product on the brush, my lashes looked a little spidery and clumped together. The bristles don't do much to separate the lashes when there is too much product on them. The formula is very wet so it takes time to dry. Therefore, the formula isn't very buildable. My only con is that it transfers to the eyelids which can be a pain if you've already done your eye look. I noticed when I was wearing a smokey eye and liner the transfer wasn't transparent.
After comparing the Badgal Bang! Mascara to its predecessors, it will not become a new fave. I still love They're Real Mascara. As I do enjoy the formula, it can be too much work to clean up the mascara after I've completed an entire eye look. However, I will continue to use it since I love the length it provides.
Have you tried the Badgal Bang! Mascara?
