Anastasia Riviera Eyeshadow Palette - Review, Photos & Swatches
Anastasia Beverly Hills has released a limited edition spring them palette. The star of the ABH spring lineup is the Riviera Palette which features bright pops of colour and warm neutrals that are perfect for creating vacation looks. Norvina said the palette was inspired by the French Riviera. The shade names are travel themed and some named after exotic travel destinations. It was refreshing to see the brand move away from neutral palettes that we previously released. I was so drawn to the bright pinks and purples in the palette but it also has some unique shades that I don’t have in my collection. There are 14 new, “paradise-inspired mattes and metallics that range from vibrant jewel tones to bright colours for shimmering, glam, smoky eyes and pops of colour”. Riviera retails for $59 CAD and $45 USD at Sephora, Anastasiabeverlyhills.com and more retailers pictured at the bottom of this post.
The eyeshadows are housed in a navy and white nautical striped palette with gold details. The canvas material is a nice change from the velvet packaging that we’ve seen before. The shadows include 8 ultra-mattes, 4 metallics and 2 duo chromes. Three of which are pressed pigments that promise a high colour payoff and intensity. The mattes were pigmented and blended well. Most of the mattes have a powdery texture that creates minimal fallout. I was surprised at the opaque finish of the shade Sails. Usually white shadows don’t show up on me but this one works great as a base to set my primer. I wish Cabana had more of a mustard pigment; it was a light mustard on my skin tone. It swatched patchy but it applied good on the eyes. I did have some staining with the shade Bahamas but it is a gorgeous vibrant pink. Cannes was a little difficult to blend and adhered to certain part the eyes more than others. I had to pat it on then diffuse with another colour. The most of the mattes are warm toned which are great for the crease/transition shades. The metallics are very soft and rich in texture. The pigmentation on these are superb. The metallics apply best with your fingers or a wet brush to give the least amount of fallout. Mediterranean is a unique shade that I don’t have in my collection. Seychelles is one of my favourites but all the metallics are beautiful.
Sails (matte white)
Yacht (duo-chrome mauve-taupe with a violet shift)
Seychelles (metallic aqua marine)
Palermo (metallic jewel pink)
Seaside (duo-chrome silver with a subtle blue shift)
Inheritance (metallic true gold)
Mediterranean (metallic sky blue)
Estate (matte soft pastel peachy pink)
Cabana (matte muted birch mustard)
Coastline (matte pastel soft peach)
Bahamas (matte bright bold candy hot pink),
Monte Carlo (matte cool mid-tone pink)
Cannes (matte bright violet purple)
Palm (matte dark chocolate brown)
I’m so happy I picked up the Riviera Eyeshadow Palette. The colour story is just stunning. I love all the vibrant shades; they’re perfect for spring and summer looks. The pigmentation is amazing and I didn’t have any major issues with blending or fading. The shadows are long wearing with over 8 hours of wear. I enjoy the mix of cool and warm tone metallics and appreciate the warm toned mattes for the crease. All of the shades are wearable and I can see myself using every single shadow in the palette. The palette is versatile for daytime neutral looks and fun looks with pops of colour. I definitely recommend this palette if you’re looking to add some colour to your makeup collection.
