Shayla x Colourpop Proceed with Caution Collection - Review, Photos & Swatches

Hi Beauties!

Proceed with Caution before reading this post haha! Beauty vlogger known as Makeupshayla on Youtube and Instagram has collaborated with Colourpop for a second collection. Her original palette with Colourpop, Perception is one of my faves. This time around the colours are brighter and bolder. Shayla says her life has been under construction for the past year with her fitness and health journey as well as purchasing her first home that has been under construction for months. All of which have inspired the construction themed collection. The packaging and shade names relate to construction in some way. I think we can all relate to having some major life changes and being under construction. The Proceed with Caution collection features seven eye, face and lip products that are all reasonably priced. The entire collection can be purchased in a bundle or individually on

The palette contains nine wearable warm toned neutral eyeshadows with pops of vibrant yellow and orange. The shadows have a perfect mix of matte and metallic finishes to complete an entire eye-look. I think all the shades would be universal to all skin tones. Shayla says you must “Proceed with caution when using this palette because it will take you from 0 to glam real quick.” This palette can take you from daytime neutral looks to sultry night time looks and even fun looks with the bright shades. The shimmers are very creamy and pigmented. Dead End and Warning are beautiful bright shimmers. HZRD has a drier texture but would look great for a smokey eye. If you blend it, the pigment disappears so better to apply it in a patting motion.  The shimmers apply best with your fingers or a wet brush for optimal pigmentation.  With a dry brush, it doesn’t pick up that much pigment.  The mattes have a drier texture and are fairly pigmented. Of course, that yellow shade, Caution, was calling my name. It looks pretty on the lid or as an inner corner highlight. On my skin tone, it looks more mustard than bright yellow.  I need to use a white base for it to be more vibrant.  Culture is an ideal transition shade that is a repeat from the perception palette.  I also like that she included a matte cream shade for setting my eyeshadow primer.

Pressed Powder Blush - $8

There are two blushes in the collection and both are practical shades that will work on many complexions.  Construct is a pearlized mid tone rosey nude with gold shimmer.  Whistle While You Work is a matte fresh pink.  Both shades sheer out to give a natural healthy flush of colour to the cheeks.  They have a silky texture and can be layered.  I can get away with using Construct as a bronzer.  It adds a nice bronzy glow.

Ultra Satin Lip - $12

There are two lip bundles in this collection that include a satin matte lip and a lippie pencil.  The Ultra Satin lips are a creamy liquid lipstick with a satin finish.  The Speed up bundle contains a nudey pink lipstick, Speed Up and the BFF Pencil 3 which is a deep nude.  The other bundle comes with Slow Down lipstick that is a honey nude and BBF 4 that is a dark chestnut brown.  I like that there is a pink and nude option similar to the blushes.  Those are pretty much the shades I wear the most.  The lipsticks are highly pigmented.  I usually just apply it to my bottom lip and smack my lips together to cover the rest.  They are not drying but you do feel their presence after a while so I like to wear a gloss over it.  The lippie pencils are soft and creamy and glide on without any tugging.  They help to add some dimension to the look.  They remind me of the 90’s when I use to line my lips with brown liner.  I thought they would look dark on me but they actually look great with the matching lipsticks.
