Tarte Double Duty Beauty

Hi Beauties,

Today I will be sharing my picks from Tarte’s Double Duty Beauty Collection that was recently released at ULTA.  The collection is also available for sale on Tarte.com.  I only picked up a couple of things from this line but I hope to get some more lip products.

Let’s get started, shall we?

Lip Sculptor Lipstick & Lip-gloss ($24US/$31CAD)

Shade: Voltage

Shade: Voltage

I love the duo concept of having a lipstick and gloss in one convenient tool. The shiny gold double-ended packaging looks like a lip-gloss but underneath the barrel is a full sized lipstick. The coordinating lipstick and lip-gloss can be worn together or on its own, which provides great variety in one product.  I’m a glossy type of girl; I always carry a lip-gloss with me to wear on top of my lipstick when it starts to dry and wear off. This travel-friendly lipstick is perfect for a night out when you’re carrying a small clutch. The packaging is a little bulky but it is still better than packing two products.

The shade ranges are beautiful in this line but I only picked up one to try.  The shade ‘Voltage’ stood out to me the most; it’s a peachy pink colour that just screams summer. The pigmented formula is light weight with a satin finish. It wears so comfortably and is very moisturizing to the lips as it contains oils and vitamins. It also has a sweet vanilla scent that disappears once applied.  It wore for 4 hours and fades after eating which is expected as it is not a matte lipstick.

The lip-gloss has a good colour payoff and is non-sticky which a plus is for me.  It is suggested that the gloss be applied on top of the lipstick in the center of the lips to add some dimension while the “coconut oil helps condition and reinvigorates lip volume, smooth the look of fine lines and deliver decadent hydration”.  I definitely want to purchase more Lip Sculptors & Lip-glosses.

Limited Edition Eye & Cheek Palette ($28us/$36can)

Classic Courage

Classic Courage

First off, can we take a minute to appreciate this packaging? Who doesn’t love gold? It also has an inspiring quote on the cover “She dreamed, she believed & she succeeded”. Love that!  The packaging is a little too heavy to make it a travel friendly palette (in my opinion) as advertised.

The palette contains one full sized blush and five shadows in mattes and lusters. I picked up ‘Classic Courage’ which has warm neutral tones.  It is also available in ‘sultry star power’ which contains cool smokey grey shades.

The blush is a very pretty dusty rose colour and is super pigmented. A like other Tarte’s blushes, a little goes a long way. I did find that each shade in this palette created some fall out.  The matte eye shadows performed better than the lusters.  The lusters are not that pigmented on my complexion so they apply better with a wet brush.

  • Amazonian clay: nature’s most perfect ingredient for better, longer truer wear
  •  mineral pigments: soothe and soften skin

Besides the blush, the other thing I like about this palette is that the shades are long wearing and blendable.  It is great for creating simple everyday looks and ideal for beginners.  I wish it had a good transition colour for the crease which would make it perfect for creating an entire eye and cheek look. There was something about it being an ULTA exclusive that attracted me to it since it is not sold in stores in Canada.  However, this palette is not a must have for me.

Have a great day,

Samantha
