What to Pack for a Tropical Vacation: Saint Lucia Edition

Laborie Beach in Saint Lucia

Laborie Beach in Saint Lucia

Hi Beauties!

After enduring all of the snow and freezing temps in Toronto, the family and I were in need of a break. Although spring was upon us, it sure didn’t feel like it.  We searched for warmer locales to escape the chilly weather that would be perfect to get some R&R.  We landed upon Saint Lucia, a beautiful Caribbean island.  We reclined on the beach with mountains peeking in the background, soaked in volcanic mud baths and zip lined through the lush rainforest.

After travelling to many tropical destinations over the years, my wardrobe for these trips have been quite similar - bright pieces, light fabrics, basics, accessories, and of course, lots of bikinis! Don’t forget your essentials – sunscreen, sunglasses, sun hat and a tote bag for the beach.

Cute Crop Top + Shorts:

Matching sets are super cute and comfortable for hanging around a resort or while out exploring.  My husband and I like to hike a lot and while I like to be comfortable, I still want to look cute.  The beautiful views at the top of the mountains we hike are perfect for the Gram so I have to be camera ready.  You also can’t go wrong with a pair of distressed jean shorts and crop top.  I like to pack a few of these so I have options to mix and match. The matching sets pictured below are from Zaful.com.

Jumpsuits/Rompers:

Jumpsuits and rompers are so chic and versatile.  Not to mention comfortable and they don’t take up much space in your suitcase.  They can be worn in the day or breezy night.  I wore a romper for a fun packed day of exploring the island and a jumpsuit for a night time beach party (not pictured). Jumpsuits are useful for when I’m feeling bloated and can’t fit into my tight fitting dresses for dinner lol. Rompers below are from Fashion Nova and Zaful.

Dresses:

You will need sun dresses that are fun and easy to style during the day or night.  As well as some midi dresses for fancier dinners or a night out.  I usually take one dress per night for dinner and a couple extra casual ones for throwing over my bathing suits. The dresses pictured below are from PLT and Missguided.

Brights/Neons:

I’ve always enjoyed wearing bright colourful clothing on vacation.  I was so happy to see neons trending again. So I just had to go buy a few more neon pink, lime and orange pieces.

Cover Ups/Kimonos:

Whether you prefer shorts and a tank, see through dresses or kimonos, make sure you have enough cover ups for each day.  I personally love them all but I’ve been leaning towards kimonos lately.  They are practical for beach/pool days but are stylish to wear as an outfit with shorts and a tank.

Sandals:

You’ll need a stylish pair of sandals to pair with your cute outfits.  As well as a rubber pair of slides to wear to the beach and pool.  Don’t forget a nicer sandal maybe a pair of heels to wear with your dresses.  Wedges or a blocked heel are my preference.

Athleisure Wear (Optional):

Depending on your itinerary, you may want to pack some active wear if you plan on hitting up the gym; and yes, I actually made it to the gym in St.Lucia.  I also did yoga by the ocean, so my lululemons came in handy.  I also wore gym attire when we went zip lining.

Are you planning any vacations this year?

Samantha
