NYX Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powders, Cosmic Metals Shadow Palette and Lip Creams - Review, Photos and Swatches
Today I will be sharing my review and swatches of some new goodies from NYX Cosmetics. Keep reading to see swatches for the Cosmic Metals Shadow Palette and Lip Creams and the Duo Chromatic Illumination Powders.
COSMIC METALS SHADOW PALETTE - $10 CAD
Inspired by NYX'S Cosmic Metals Lip Creams, the brand has launched a new eyeshadow palette. The Cosmic Metals Shadow Palette contains six versatile metallic shades in tones of gold, plum and mauve. I was really impressed with this palette. The rich pigmentation is amazing and it has good staying power. Most of the shades are buttery while the gold and pink champagne shades have a sparkly finish. Nonetheless, they are all gorgeous. They also blend very well and a little goes a long way. This is an affordable palette that can be used for creating quick and beautiful eye looks. Below you will see a look I created using this palette.
COSMIC METALS LIP CREAM - $10 CAD
Since we're on the topic of Cosmic Metals, there are five new Lip Cream shades. The metallic lip has been trending for awhile now but I just jumped on the band wagon. I've been loving gold lip toppers lately and now you can achieve the look with these budget friendly Lip Creams. The packaging is so cute with a diamond domed cover. The applicator is a curved doefoot that tends to pick up too much product at once but I just wipe it off on the sides of the tube. The formula is opaque and creamy and gives a metallic finish; however, it leaves tiny flecks of glitter when removed. It is non-drying unlike a liquid lipstick and fades rather quickly. A thin layer is all that is needed or else it creeps up in the lip lines. You will be seeing swatches of three of the five shades below. Celestial is my favourite of the three and I like to apply it as a lip topper in the center of my lips for some dimension. For what these are worth, I think they are a great drug store dupe for the more expensive ones out there like the Smashbox metallic lip shades.
DUO CHROMATIC ILLUMINATING POWDER - $13 CAD
NYX Cosmetics launched the Duo Chromatic highlighters just in time for festival season last month. There are five unique glowing shades that are formulated with light reflecting pearls to leave a holographic glow, another trend that has been popping up everywhere lately. I'm glad there is now an affordable way to achieve the iridescent unicorn glow. All shades are so beautiful and they remind me of some of the shades in the Anastasia Moonchild Glow kit. The packaging is not the best as one of my powders in Snow Rose came shattered but the quality of the powders are great for the value. Lavender Steel, Crushed Bloom and Synthetica are amongst my favourites as they look pretty on my tan complexion. I use a dense wet fan brush to apply to get the maximum glow.
Twilight Tint- White base with blue duo chromatic pearls
Lavender Steel- Soft lavender with pink and lavender duo chromatic pearls
Crushed Bloom - Dusty rose with pink and light blue duo chromatic pearls
Snow Rose- White base with pink and lilac duo chromatic pearls
Synthetica - Pink base with gold duo chromatic pearls
NYX has really stepped up their game, not that they ever disappoint. If you're on a budget I highly recommend all of the above products. I have surely added them to my rotation. You can shop these at Shoppers Drug Mart, NYX Store, Ulta and other retailers that carry the brand.
