Makeup by Mario Ultra Suede Lipstick - Sam: Review and Swatch

I finally made a purchase from Makeup by Mario’s makeup line. After reading the raving reviews on Sephora.com, I decided to try his new Ultra Suede Lipstick first. There are twenty shades in this line and I picked up shade Sam - solely based on the name. If you didn’t know already my name is Samantha. The lipsticks are said to have full matte coverage with a suede-like finish. It contains rosehip and passionfruit seed oil to soften the lips and blur-filter technology to give a soft-focus finish. It retails for $32 CAD and $24 USD at Sephora.

The white packaging is very clean and simple. The case has a magnetic closure. The texture of the lipstick actually looks like suede. The formula is a true matte and gives a soft-focus finish. The coverage is opaque and applied fairly evenly. It is lightweight, non-drying, and comfortable to wear for the first couple of hours after which I need a gloss. Sam is a nude pink shade with warm undertones. It is a beautiful shade; definitely my type of shade. However, it drastically emphasized my lip lines and for this reason, I’m not a fan of the Ultra Suede Lipsticks. If you don’t mind that and are a matte lipstick fan, maybe this will work for you. The shade range in this line is very beautiful.
