NARS X Man Ray for Holiday 2017 Collection - The Veil Cheek Palette, NARS Love Triangles and More - Review, Photos and Swatches

NARS Cosmetics has introduced the Man Ray for Nars Holiday 2017 Collection - Kiss.Play.Man Ray. The brand has collaborated with various artists in the past for their winter collections and this year its modern artist Man Ray. The limited edition shades in the collection were inspired by the artist's electrifying artwork. The new collection features vibrant shades of lipstick, lip gloss, eyeshadow, blush and more. There is also gifting sets inspired by the bold minimalism and iconic muses of Man Ray's fashion photography. Some pieces are packaged with Man Ray's photographs while others have a chic matte black packaging with a gold lip print and his signature. I was sent a few items to review which I will be sharing below.

The Veil Cheek Palette - $62 CAD/$49 USD

The Veil Cheek Palette is named after one of Man Ray’s photographs featuring a mysterious woman that is pictured on the cover of the compact. The trio is part of The Gifting Collection and includes a contour, highlight and a pop of colour. It includes new limited edition blush and highlighter shades, as well as the iconic Laguna bronzer in a sun wash diffusing formula. All of the powders have a smooth texture, blended well and didn’t kickup any excess product in the pan.

Laguna is a buildable brown powder with gold shimmer and it has a lip embossment. The warm undertones are perfect for adding warmth to the face while leaving a luminous glow.

Lovesick Blush is a pinkish coral shade that is described as a satin watermelon. It warm undertones with a luminous sheen.

Surreal Highlighter is described as a glistening bronze rose and it couldn't be more fitting. It is a really pretty shade but worked better as a blush topper on my skin tone as oppose to a highlighter. It did emphasize some texture when I wore it as a highlighter.

NARS Love Triangles - $32 CAD/$24 USD

Also included in The Gifting Collection are these cute Love Triangles. There are five colour options that feature mini iterations of the brand's classic blush and lipsticks. Each triangle contains one Audacious lipstick and one blush in ready-to-gift packaging. These are great gift options and would be perfect for stocking stuffers. Orgasm, Deep Throat and Barbara and Hot Sand and Rita are Sephora exclusives. The blushes are mini but a little goes a long way. I received a similar size blush as a Sephora Rouge gift last year just to give you a comparison. Below you will be seeing swatches for Orgasm and Impassioned and Anna. The Orgasm lipstick has no pigmentation; it just leaves gold shimmer. It would probably be better as a lipstick topper. The blush however is very pretty, it has a sheen finish. I have the full-size lipstick of Anna and it's one of my faves. I will be throwing this mini in my purse for on the go.

Blush: Fetishized - $38 CAD/$30 USD

There are two limited edition single full-size blush shades in this collection. Fetishized is a pink grapefruit blush with warm orange undertones. Intensely is a bright tangerine. I have the Fetishized Blush and it is very vibrant but not over the top. It is highly pigmented so I would suggest using a light hand to build up the desired coverage. It blends out to give a luminous flush of colour to the cheeks.

Duo Eyeshadow: Debauched - $43 CAD/$36 USD

In this collection, there are two dynamic duos for creating a smokey eye. Below you will see swatches for the Debauched Duo Eyeshadow which contains a black violet and smoky charcoal with red shimmer shades. The mini mirrored compact features two crease-proof NARS eyeshadows in limited-edition shades. The shades are highly pigmented and they blend amazingly. The smoky charcoal shade looks almost black on me but I love the grungy look it gives.

Photogloss Lip Laquer - $33 CAD/$26 USD

A limited-edition, high-shine liquid lipstick with saturated colour that provides a high shine. There are four available shades and below is the shade Kiki which is described as a Burgundy shade.

Velvet Eyeliner - $31 CAD/$24 USD

There are two eyeliners in this line that have a creamy formula. They are perfect for blending, smudging and intensifying the eyes. Shown below is the liner in Santiago which is a chocolate brown shade. It looks really pretty on the waterline but it doesn't last as I have watery eyes.

In addition to the above-mentioned items, there is a new limited edition highlighter that I would love to get my hands on. It is a gold powder highlighter and it has the lip embossments. As well as two eyeshadow palettes - Glass Tears and Love Game and some lipstick gift sets.
